Alternative Rock band from Minneapolis, Modern Amusement, released a new single “I Have a Crush on Lisa Loeb” on July 16th, 2021. Formed by Sam Black and Marco Milo on a street corner in Minneapolis, Modern Amusement is looking to make their mark in the Alt-Rock Pantheon. They love making music and seeing the joy that it brings to people. They released their debut EP, Beautiful Infection, in 2020. And on May 28th, 2021 Modern Amusement released their debut self titled album, which was produced by Dan Konopka, the drummer of the famous rock group OK Go.
“I Have a Crush on Lisa Loeb” has an early 2000’s alt rock feeling to it, think Blink 182, Weezer, or The Offspring. Driven by power guitar chords and upbeat and energetic drumming. Sam Black’s voice is so unique and fits the music so perfectly! I get a rush of teenage angst immediately as I start listening. I could totally see this being in a 1990’s or early 2000’s coming of age movie. It’s really a great song, very well put together. The instrumentals are performed wonderfully and pair excellently with Black’s voice. The lyrics are like a teenage crush/romance. Talking about Sam Black’s adorable crush on the ever so famous Lisa Loeb.
