Single Review: Susan Hickman Releases New Single “A Dream”

Written by Colin Naughton

Country singer songwriter Susan Hickman has released a new single, “A Dream” on July 2nd, 2021. Susan was named CMA “Close Up Who New To Watch” in 2010, the Texas CMA “Female Vocalist of The Year” in 2015 and has quite the resume of live performances, playing on the same ticket as acts such as Miranda Lambert, Jo Dee Messina, Shenandoah, Dean Dillon, Robert Earl Keen and Daryle Singletary. She has also performed at Nashville’s famous CMA Music Festival and France’s 23rd Annual Country Rendez-Vous Festival.

Hickman’s new single, “A Dream,” is a true country track and uses traditional country instruments, guitar, drums, bass and fiddle to back Susan Hickman’s wonderful vocals. I really enjoy the opening electric guitar riff and the fiddle playing, it really sets the tone and energy for the rest of the song. I love how both instruments are highlighted in the singing breaks throughout, the short solos really add another deeper layer to the music to help strengthen the track as a whole. Hickman’s voice is absolutely beautiful and is so perfectly executed in “A Dream.” The lyrics are romantic and relatable, as they tell a story about love and heartbreak. Hickman’s singing provides the listener with a feeling of comfort. “A Dream” is a wonderful country tune with great instrumental music, amazing singing and heartfelt lyrics!

You can stream “A Dream” on your preferred streaming service and you can follow Susan Hickman on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
