Getting into the influences and inspirations of Modern Amusements music.
What new music do you have cooking up right now? Modern Amusement has a brand new album coming out next year! We just finished production on it and the first single should be released in November! I'm super excited for everyone to hear it, it's a real tight and cohesive work! What are you streaming right now over and over for inspiration? The biggest inspirations I've been taking for this album have been Weezer's Pinkerton, My Chemical Romance's Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, Panic! At The Disco's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, and Nirvana's Bleach. It's a little punk-rock-ish and a little emo, we tried to make this one pretty raw compared to the last one to fit those vibes and I took inspiration from those albums to get some of those sounds. Do you tend to stay inspired for a while or is there a dip from time to time? How do you deal with that if there is? I definitely have times where I might have writer's block and in those times I'll just take a while off until the inspiration comes back, usually when I hear a new song that sparks my imagination. I'm not really the kind of person that's always writing, but most of the time when I do it's for long stretches of time and I write a bunch of songs in a short burst! What kind of groove are you in right now? I've been on kind of a grunge kick lately and I think it's kind of reflecting into my music lately. I wouldn't say any new Modern Amusement could be classified as grunge really, but I think you'll be able to tell the influence is there. Tell us a time where the reaction to your new music left a lasting impression with you? Definitely gotta be when Lisa Loeb herself said my song I Have A Crush On Lisa Loeb was fire. I don't really know how I'm going to be able to top that in the future! Leave us with a wonderful quote to leave our audience with a lasting impression of YOU! "Life is too short to take too seriously. Stay amused!" How was that?
